Elizabeth B. Cullen, 92, passed away on January 23, 2009. She was the daughter of Martin and Eliza (Castro) Holzhauer. She was a life-long resident of Gilroy. Prior to her marriage, she was a telephone operator for the Gilroy Telephone Company. She was married to Lawrence J. Cullen on June 27, 1937. He predeceased her in 1981. They loved to travel, a practice she continued for many years after her husband’s death.
Elizabeth was a member of numerous local organizations. She had been a member of the Gilroy Grange for 78 years.
Surviving her are son, David Cullen, daughter-in-law, Margaret Mangion, of Norwich, CT and her daughter, Carol Pierson, son-in-law, William Pierson, of Santa Paula, CA. She also has three grandchildren, Todd Pederson, Traci (Eric) Gorman, and Michael Cullen as well as four great-grandchildren, Katrina, Kindra, Julie Gorman and Tyler Pederson.
Viewing begins at 3:00 P.M. Tuesday January 27, 2009 with a rosary service to begin at 7:00 P.M. at the Habing Family Funeral Home, Gilroy. A funeral mass will be celebrated at 10:00 A.M. Wednesday January 28 at St. Mary’s Church in Gilroy.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that a donation be made to the American Cancer Society or to the charity of your choice in Elizabeth’s name.
