I am a parent of school-aged children. In the last couple of years, we have seen a serious erosion in school funding due to budget cuts.
During his campaign, Gov. Swartzenegger said that he would not cut funding to schools, now he is talking about doing just that. He recently announced that he might withhold Proposition 98 money from schools.
This comprises billions of dollars that Californians voted to dedicate to public schools. With this money gone, school functions will be deeply impaired.
The governor said during his campaign that he would help kids. All his proposed budget cuts affect schools, hospitals, and medical services to children. I don’t know how these cuts are protecting children.
