and their leader, John Bremis, will be going to Europe where they
will travel and play music for 21 days.
Coming June 2004, the talented Britton Middle School Jazz Band and their leader, John Bremis, will be going to Europe where they will travel and play music for 21 days.
While they are in Europe where they will play in 18 concerts and festivals including one in Morgan Hill’s sister city San Casciano, Italy. This will be the second international trip for the jazz band: last year Mr. Bremis led the group on a successful tour in Canada, which whetted the group’s appetite for more jazz and travel.
When in Europe and not engaged in playing concerts and traveling, the band members will be enjoying the hospitality of local families in Germany, Switzerland and Italy. Living with locals will be a great opportunity for the students to see and learn about other cultures, religions, foods, governments and languages first hand. In addition to enhancing their education, band members will be spreading goodwill and friendship from the people of Morgan Hill.
This trip is an excellent opportunity for our students to expand their cultural and musical knowledge. Our school and community is fortunate in having these talented people in their midst.
In addition to getting their musical pieces in order, the band members are planning community events to raise funds for their trip. Two events are happening this November. Family Bingo will be Friday, Nov. 7 at Britton and the following Friday, the 14th, a spaghetti dinner along with entertainment will be happening at the Grange. The Morgan Hill community, well known for supporting excellence in our school, are invited to join in the fun and help this group reach their goals.
