Death is being investigated as a homicide
Gilroy – A body found in the hills off of Highway 152, just southwest of Morgan Hill, has been identified.

The man’s name, however, is not being released pending notification of next of kin, said a Santa Clara County Coroner’s Office spokesperson, adding that the death is being investigated as a homicide.

“In most homicide investigations, detectives don’t like to release any information that might alert a suspect,” said Santa Clara County Sheriff’s Office spokesman Serg Palanov.

Loggers working in the hills off of Hecker Pass Highway flagged down a deputy Friday and reported a possible dead body between the Sprig Lake turnout and Mount Madonna County Park, according to Palanov.

Palanov said investigators are awaiting autopsy results.

Anyone with information, or who may have seen vehicles parked in the area anytime within the past week, is asked to call the Sheriff’s office at 808-4500 or the anonymous tip line at 808-4431.
