Director Kris Heiser, right, instructs bellhops Allie Murray and Dylan Poles during Tuesday’s dress rehearsal for the St. Catherine School’s production of “Annie,” which opens Friday and has shows through the weekend.

More than 100 students will take part in St. Catherine of Alexandria Catholic School’s latest production of “Annie” with performances beginning this weekend.
Showtimes are Friday, Nov. 18 and Saturday, Nov. 19 at 7 p.m. and Sunday, Nov. 20 at 2 p.m.
Tickets are $15 and can be purchased at showtix4u.com by typing in “St. Catherine Annie.”
The musical will be performed at the school located at 17500 Peak Avenue in Morgan Hill.
Kindergartners and first graders will perform the opening act, while second through eighth grade students will take on a variety of parts throughout the musical. Parents help with the costumes and set.
“Theater is my passion, but I also really love seeing the kids grow through the program from their first time on stage as kindergartners through to eighth grade,” said Kris Heiser, the play’s director who has led the production for the last 18 years.
Sixth grader Olivia Handa will play the lead role of Annie, while eighth grader Madison Gardner was cast as Miss Hannigan and eighth grader Isaiah Marmie is making his theatrical debut as Daddy Warbucks. Other lead roles are: eighth grader Kristina Agresta as Grace Farrell; eighth grader Noah Lee as Rooster and Bella Della Maggiore will play Lily.
The behind-the-scenes crew, including the lighting and scenery staging, is all student run, according to Heiser.
“We turn the gymnasium into a theater every year,” said Heiser, who also welcomes back St. Catherine alumni to help in any way they can.
