A fifth-generation Morgan Hill resident is following in the footsteps of his mother and two uncles as he performs for the second summer with the Concord Blue Devils Drum and Bugle Corps.

Brandyn Bettencourt, 20, is drum major for the group, which tours the nation and the world performing in contests.

Bettencourt’s mother and uncles marched with the Live Oak High Emerald Regime and Color Guard.

Last summer, the Blue Devils won the world championship in the drum corps category while performing during the World Music Contest in the Netherlands, held once every four years.

This year, the group will spend two weeks competing on the West Coast, then they will travel east to perform in several contests.

Their show this year is called, “The Godfather, Part Blue.” For more information about the Blue Devils, visit their Web site, www.bluedevils.org/blueview.
