Downtown Morgan Hill will be abuzz this weekend with various community events to attend, donate to and enjoy.
Starting Saturday morning, the community can attend a fundraiser at Murphy Ranch to help memorialize slain teen Tara Romero.
Later that afternoon, downtown will be the perfect place to enjoy a pint of beer as the inaugural Brew Crawl kicks off. The four-hour event is sponsored by the Morgan Hill Downtown Association and will feature a variety of regional labels.
Sunday will be just as busy, with Monterey Road having its own British invasion. The British Fall Classic will display more than 170 vintage British automobiles to the public, throughout downtown.
Tara Romero benefit concert and car show
You can show your support for creating a public bronze statue depicting the likeness of Tara Romero, a 14-year-old Sobrato High School student who was murdered as an innocent bystander in a drive-by shooting Nov. 4, 2011.
Everyone’s Child, a nonprofit foundation that was started in honor of her memory, is hosting a benefit concert and car show to kick off its fundraising efforts this Saturday at Murphy Ranch Townhomes, 310 East Dunne Ave., from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
“We would like to create a bronze statue that is located in a place the community congregates regularly,” said Lisa Washington, an organizer for the event and representative of Everyone’s Child. “It will honor the lives of Tara and fallen teens in our community, while serving as an inspirational symbol of peace, unity and social awareness.”
Music at the benefit will be performed by Jeff Turner, Michael Silva, and the Hip Hop Craze.
The car show will be hosted by Peter Morin, president of the car club Excessive Lifestyles, and display close to a dozen various vehicles that belong to the club.
Admission is free, and tickets will be sold for food and beverages for $15. A raffle will also held. Tickets for it are $10, prizes include tickets to 49ers and Raiders games. All proceeds will go toward the charity.

Like beer? Try the Crawl in downtown Saturday
Fill your afternoon with a full glass of beer, courtesy of the Brew Crawl.
Come out Saturday and enjoy local breweries as the Morgan Hill Downtown Association showcases 21 beers including the local label, El Toro Brewery.
“We wanted to bring a different variety of crowd downtown and enjoy our great restaurants and stores,” said Raquel Crowell, representing the Downtown Association. “But our tickets are selling out. We only have around 100 left.”
Tickets must be purchased in advance at various shops downtown. They cost $25 at the time of purchase at an additional $35 at the start of the Crawl. The 800 or so crawlers should meet in front the Granada Theater, 17440 Monterey Road, starting at 1 p.m. for their map and may travel between stores that will tap the various kegs for patrons until 5 p.m.
The Brew Crawl is a direct result of the success the Downtown Wine Stroll has enjoyed. There are no plans yet, but depending on the how well of the Crawl goes, organizers may make this a twice-a-year event just like the Wine Stroll.
The British are coming! The British are coming!
Grab your leather cap, driving goggles, and white scarf and come out and witness the spectacle of over 170 classic British cars.
The British Fall Classic will be in Morgan Hill Sunday, with various classic British make and model cars up and down Monterey Road from Main Avenue to Fourth Street.
“By the time you finish walking up and down the street, we want you to love the magic and beauty of British cars as we do,” said Tom Dunham, one of the organizers of the British Fall Classic, and staff at On The Road Again Classics, an auto shop serving just British cars on Joleen Way in Morgan Hill.
The cars will be arriving between 8 to 10 a.m., and will be on display to the public until 2:30 p.m. An awards presentation will be held afterward until 3:30 p.m.
