More than 300 local families enjoyed an afternoon of fun and activities as the Morgan Hill Federation of Teachers hosted its second annual Friends and Family Community Festival April 22 at Live Oak High School.
About 25 teachers participated in the event, helping out on such activities as face painting, planting seeds, crown making and Native American games.
Entertainment from local bands and dance groups continued throughout the day, while attendees could also stop at community booths set up by the Morgan Hill Library, Southwest Key Mentors, Cub Scout Troop 700, Services, Immigration Rights and Education Network (SIREN), Kaiser Permanente and Foothill Health Center.
Those families who stopped by for an afternoon of fun were also treated to adult and youth raffle prizes from numerous community businesses, including various hair salons, Anytime Fitness, Chili’s, Fro-Yo, Pieology and Five Guys.
“We were overwhelmed with the community support,” said MHFT President Gemma Abels.
This year, the teachers union also announced its teachers of the year for each school site as well as the district’s top educator honor.
