As newly elected School Board Trustees Kathy Sullivan, Peter Mandel and Julia Hover-Smoot and appointed Trustee Don Moody take their seats at the table for the first time Monday night, the board will be considering a search firm to find a new superintendent and a compensation package for district administrators.

Superintendent Carolyn McKennan’s contract expires June 30, and she did not seek renewal.

Before outgoing Trustees Jan Masuda and Del Foster and outgoing Board President George Panos completed their terms, they and Trustees Mike Hickey, Amina Khemici and Shellé Thomas directed district staff to seek proposals from search firms to assist them in replacing McKennan.

The five search firms who submitted proposals are: California School Boards Association Executive Search Services; Leadership Associates; Hazard, Young, Attea and Associates, Ltd.; Rudy and Janet Gatti, Board Advisers; and Zampi and Associates.

During Monday’s meeting, trustees will also consider taking action on a proposed compensation package for the district’s certificated administrators, classified managers and supervisory and confidential employees.

The board has already approved negotiated agreements with the district’s other two employee groups, the Morgan Hill Federation of Teachers and the Service Employees International Union.

Also on Monday’s agenda are discussions of eight board policies, either for revisions or approval as new board polices. Six of the policies refer to district facilities, one is a policy for students in regard to harassment, and one is for students concerning failing grades.

When the agenda for Monday’s meeting was released Thursday, McKennan also announced a special board meeting on Dec. 13 for trustees to review the final report from the state Fiscal Crisis and Management Assistance Team on the district.

Monday’s regular meeting and the special meeting Dec. 13 will be held at the District Office, 15600 Concord Circle. Monday’s meeting will begin at 7pm; the special meeting is scheduled for 6-8pm. Details: 201-6000.
