General Plan Advisory Committee stuffed with self-interested members
Dear Editor,
The General Plan Advisory Committee needs to be reformed.  There are too many members and alternates who will benefit financially from the work of the Committee. That is just wrong. There are contractors, developers, land owners and those in real estate that that are shaping the work of the Committee, especially as it redefines zoning and City limits.
Several months prior to the Committee’s formation, I met with Mayor Steve Tate and asked him not to select members who could possibly benefit. I advised the mayor to instead have specific workshops for contractors, developers, and those in real estate where the Committee would gather input and address concerns and opportunities.
My recommendation would have them participate, but not adjudicate. But these recommendations fell on deaf ears and the work of the Committee is egregiously compromised. This is unfair to the good residents of Morgan Hill who expect a fair and impartial process. This is not happening.
As a result, we are may be looking at major new development, well outside our City limits and a population of nearly 80,000 without analysis and considering cost.
The time to change the outcome that benefits the few is now and that would include reforming the Committee.

U.S. Constitution quite clear: the unwarranted government spying by NSA is illegal
Dear Editor,
It comes as no surprise to people who can read that the first judge to evaluate the National Security Agency spying found it unconstitutional.
The 4th Amendment of the Constitution says, “The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no Warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by Oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized.”
So when the Constitution says that warrants are required describing what is being searched for and why, it’s pretty clear that does not mean it’s OK to search everyone for anything without a warrant.
You don’t have to be a lawyer or a judge to figure out that dog won’t hunt. Thank you Edward Snowden for making this ruling possible.
