Mateo was born on July 27, 1924 in Gilroy, CA. He passed away on August 15, 2010, in Los Angeles, CA at the age of 86.

His parents were Aurelio Zuniga and Maria Colmenero Zuniga.

He is survived by his wife Romelia of 63 years. Also survived by sister Mary Zuniga Zingg of Oroville, CA.

Predeceased by sisters Felipa Vargas, Petra Parades and Rosa Monnarez. Also predeceased by brothers Robert, John, Genaro, Alfonso and Vincente Zuniga.

He is survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

Mateo attended local schools and served in the U.S. Army during World War II. After his discharge, he worked for Progresso Tamale Factory on Wright Rd. for a short time. He then moved the Los Angeles where he was employed by the Southern Pacific Railroad for 33 years.

He was a kind and generous person. His nephews and nieces will forever remember his fantastic sense of humor.

He will be missed by all the family and never forgotten

Services were held on August 20,2010, at Rose Hills Memorial Park, Whittier, CA.
