Attempted carjacking VTA Plans Public Meetings
Attempted carjacking

A suspect in a black hooded sweatshirt pulled a small black handgun out and demanded the keys to a vehicle in the Home Depot parking lot Saturday afternoon, but then jumped into another vehicle that sped away onto northbound Highway 101. No one was injured in the attempt. The victim told police he refused to give the suspect his keys and then ran away, ducking between parked cars. The suspect ran in the other direction and got in a waiting vehicle.

“A be-on-the-lookout alert was sent out to all the south county agencies,” said Morgan Hill Police Cmdr. Terrie Booten. The suspect had not been apprehended by Monday afternoon.

VTA Plans Public Meetings

The Santa Clara Valley Transportation Authority will hold a series of public meetings in December to take feedback on proposed changes to its bus mobility device securement policy. The new proposal would make it mandatory for all mobility devices to be secured onboard VTA buses.

The South County meeting will be held Tuesday, Dec. 6, at 2 pm, at Gilroy City Hall, Council Chambers, 7351 Rosanna St.
