A Morgan Hill man was booked into Santa Clara County Jail early Sunday morning after allegedly trying to break into someone's car, fighting with the vehicle's owner and resisting arrest.
Brent Bumann, 37, was arrested after apparently having too much to drink at the StriXe Lounge in Tennant Station shopping center.
He was booked on suspicion of being drunk in public, allegedly fighting in public and resisting arrest.
When street crimes officer Brandon Richards and reserve officer Ken DeLuna arrived in the parking lot, they saw Bumann allegedly trying to break into a vehicle. Then he tried to attack the vehicle's owner, according to Morgan Hill police Special Operations Sgt. Jerry Neumayer.
Bumann pulled away as officers tried to handcuff on him and refused to obey officers' commands. Instead, he continued to walk in a circle trying to get behind the officers.
Finally, officers struck the suspect with a baton a couple of times and cuffed him.
Neumayer said Bumann refused medical attention and was later taken to county jail.
