Traffic was blocked for several hours early Friday morning after a big rig overturned on U.S. 101 south of Blossom Hill Road.
The driver of the Frieghtline tractor trailer, Cesar Garcia, 40, of Roseville was not arrested and not seriously injured. His face was cut and his left side was scratched.
According to the California Highway Patrol report, Garcia was driving northbound at approximately 60 mph at 3:15 a.m. He made an unsafe turn to the right, the truck went off the roadway edge, and Garcia reportedly overcorrected to the left and lost control of the rig.
The truck overturned onto the guardrail, sliding approximately 150 feet before stopping. Debris was scattered across two lanes, and the truck was blocking lanes.
Because the truck was carrying approximately 35,000 pounds of store merchandise, it had to be unloaded before it could be moved from the highway.
Three lanes were blocked for more than four hours during the morning commute, creating a traffic bottleneck for miles.
Garcia was taken by ambulance to San Jose Regional Medical Center. He was not driving under the influence, according to the CHP, and he was wearing a seatbelt.
